Rockefeller President Marc Tessier-Lavigne welcomes guests to Caspary Auditorium

Approximately 200 guests gathered in Caspary Auditorium for the Parents & Science Fall Evening Program held at The Rockefeller University on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. The event, which was co-hosted by the Women & Science initiative, featured guest speaker Margaret M. McCarthy, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. McCarthy’s presentation, entitled “The Pink and Blue in Gray Matter: Hormones, Gender, and the Developing Mind”, illuminated her lab’s exciting findings on how hormones shape the brain and its cellular connections. These findings have important implications for psychological health, social development, and gender disparities in the workplace. Rockefeller President Marc Tessier-Lavigne led an engaging discussion with Dr. McCarthy, and guests participated in an active question-and-answer session. A festive reception followed.
