Approximately 325 guests and Rockefeller scientists attended The Rockefeller University’s inaugural Parents & Science "Celebrating Science" Benefit on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. The evening, which was generously underwritten by David and Julia Koch, began with a fascinating presentation by Robert Lustig, M.D., a renowned pediatric endocrinologist who trained at Rockefeller, entitled "Darwin, Diet, Disease and Dollars: How the Sugar in Processed Foods Has Changed Society" in Caspary Auditorium. A reception and buffet on multiple levels of Rockefeller’s stunning Collaborative Research Center followed. Guests also had the opportunity to tours the state-of-the-art laboratories housed on each floor.

The event raised $1,100,000 to help create a new Center for Research on Child and Adolescent Health at Rockefeller, as well as to support the University’s educational outreach initiatives for students and teachers in New York City.
