Nearly 150 guests attended our innaugural Parents & Science program—Children Under Stress: Vulnerability and Resiliency in the Developing Brain—held at The Rockefeller University on October 17, 2007. The program began with a presentation from BJ Casey, Ph.D., who is Director of the Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychology at Weill-Cornell Medical College where she is Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry, Neurology and Neuroscience. Distinguished Rockefeller scientist, Bruce McEwen, Ph.D., who is the Alfred E. Mirsky Professor and head of the Margaret Milliken Hatch Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology, followed Dr. Casey. A spirited discussion between the speakers and audience members followed.
